Bombshell is unstoppable regardless of the sport......

This week end saw the 1st game of basketball for Bombshell.  He was so excited to play and had done really good at practice, now it was time for the real thing.  His team, the red flames were against his soccer coach's son, so he was pumped.  Now at this age they do not keep score on the number of baskets but trust me, Papa and Bambeano do.

After about 11 or 12 baskets including some steals, Bambeano rose to the occasion, not bad for his 1st time at playing basketball.  I guess my neighbor Tammy, was right, he was set to play despite his height.

Not one but two....

Wow less that a week since the first tooth was taken by the the tooth fairy we now have the 2nd tooth.  Bambeano is now without his 2 front bottom teeth.

I picked him up from school and yet again it came out this time it was lost on the playground.  I reassured him that we could leave a tooth picture and that would be good enough because the tooth fairy know when all the teeth come out......

So here's to another tooth fairy visit tonight

We had a visitor last night.......

My baby Bambeano lost his first tooth yesterday while at school.  He was so excited which was funny considering the change of events from last Thursday when we first realized his tooth was loose.

Back on Thursday Bambeano was excited to show me he had not one but two loose teeth, his front bottom two.  One was considerably on it's way to falling out more than the other and I asked Bambeano if he wanted me to pull it out.  He responded with both hands over his mouth shaking his head, after trying to convince him it was ok and the tooth fairy would come, he still wouldn't have any of it.  Now don't think I am some sadistic mother I just wanted it to come out in the safety of home and also prevent Bambeano for having a full day distracttion by wiggling it all day.

Still no convincing.  Boo Boo appeared and asked us what we were doing.  I proceeded to tell her about the loose teeth and she was so excited she began to tell Bambeano that the tooth fairy leaves money when she takes the tooth........ Bambeano's eyes widen and asked her "How much?" she replied "Like $10".  I nearly died and told her I didn't think it was that much as the tooth fairy had to leave money for all the other children that had lost their teeth.

Well after this Bambeano excitedly turned to me and said "Get them out mummy I want some money tonight"  I tried and tried and it still wasn't budging, we continued over the week end and still nothing. 

Monday came and his teacher was aware of the impending loose tooth as I had emailed her in case he was distracted at school and in case it fell out while at school.  So yesterday I picked him up where he met me at the after school classroom door speaking faster than I could keep up waving a zip lock bag at me.......  I finally grabbed the bag to look and there it was my baby's first tooth.  We got in the car and he excitedly called Papa at work to tell him the news. 

The tooth fairy came and left him $5.00 he was so excited.  Even I was excited at the quick way to get him up this morning ready for school.  Even Boo Boo (who could sleep through an earthquake) ran excitedly into his bedroom.

It's Santa

So we took BooBoo and Bambeano to visit Santa and took the trip to a local mall south of where we live to see him and boy was he busy, after a 2 hr wait, trust me if I knew it would be that long we would have left but kids were dressed and excited and busy occupied courtesy of the guy in front LOL

I have never laughed so much in my life......

Oh my goodnesss now I know the meaning of time flies........

Forgive me for the lack of news from the Bowden clan it has been a crazy ride.....

So we are now over soccer and onto Basketball.  Bambeano is enjoying his 1st season of basketball.  No games as of yet but he has enjoyed his basketball so far.

Today it was day of just mummy and Bambeano.  Boo Boo was on a sleepover and Papa had the day at work for a training class and what a really pleasant day we had.  We spent the morning at Lowe's doing the Build and grow making the cable car for his train he made last week with Papa.

 

After the fun at Lowe's it was time for some errands mailing Nannie, Grandma and Grandad's Christmas presents before lunch at Subway.

Then on to Basketball practice and Jack had so much fun......

Boo Boo continues to make me very proud. Not only does she have a glowing report at school she now brings home honor roll student certificate

WAY TO GO BOO BOO - We love you very much

is it really over........

Wow this Saturday just seemed a little strange.  No soccer games for Bambeano or Boo Boo.  Bambeano got knocked out in the Quarter finals by 3 goals to 0. so Saturday we spent the days at the soccer fields watching the 5/6 year old semi finals and finals as well as the 7/8 year old finals.

Of course we are not done with soccer just yet Mummy & Papa had the start of the Adult soccer tournament and as unbeaten we were the number 1 seed scheduled against red who finished 8th out of 8.  Papa despite the bad back was itching to get out on the field of course I protested but I think he was adamant to be part of the tournament.

Remembering the last 2 seasons we lost 2nd to Orange and knocked out early in the tournament round so this year we were back for vengeance and that we did.  We won in great fashion 5-0.  Papa missed a header but another team player followed up to score and even mummy nearly got on the score sheet only a few feet wide.

Now onto next week......... 

Bombshell Bowden hits the mark........

So last night it was Bambeano's turn for the 1st round soccer tournament and boy was he on fire.

He had several shots on goal but not one could go in so we went to overtime and then penalties.  Not sure I could take this 2 nights in a row.  1st up one of the girls on Jack's team, saved, the other team shot was saved by our goalie and then next up BAMBEANO.............

SCORED!!!!!!! Big powershot to the right corner right past the goalie,  And now we were on the score sheet.  It didn't stop after 5 penalties so we had to go into overtime penalties.  We were up 1st and another rocket shot puts the score up to 3-2, other team takes the shot and it is SAVED!!!!!

End of Soccer Season for Boo Boo

Last night boo Boo's soccer team, Blue Cyclones, had the 1st round of their end of season soccer tournament.  Going into the game they were 3rd out of 14 games with only 2 losses but as we have learnt soccer tournaments the kids seem a different sense that it means more than the regular season.

Papa had to put on his head coach hat as the other coach was not available.  He did great screaming from the sidelines and walking up and down coaching the kids.

We scored in the 2nd quarter, we were up 1-0.  Boo Boo took a corner kick but it was blocked and she took the 2nd shot into the box and GOALLLLLL her other team mate caught the end of it and popped it in the goal  An assist for Boo Boo.  WAY TO GO BOO BOO. 

Oh how exciting.......but how how things change in a blink of an eye.  with only 30 seconds to go the other team scored........1-1.  My heart sank.  Boo Boo had 2 shots on goal and both were saved now into sudden death only this season they have changed the rules to play 5 minutes extra time no sudden goal and if it still remains a tie then into penalties.

Here we are at penalties.  Up 1st is the other team..... We save and onto Boo Boo.........  she goes a centimetre wide NO GOAL :(  and so it went on we lost on penalties.

I am so proud of how Boo Boo played last night and all season.  She did awesome!!!!!  Way to go Boo Boo

Bambeano's new nickname

Soccer Saturday started off a very cold one.......

Boy the wind was cold and we all wrapped up.  1st up Papa's peewee team (3-5 year old kids).  I decided to stay in the warmth of the house and arrive a little later in time for the end of season party.  Papa had some delicious cupcakes purchased from his work, I think I may have just found my new pastry needs and support his work, yum yum.

Next up BooBoo's game she was up against the #2 team in the league (she is currently ranked 3rd out of 14 teams)  they played a hard game and only lost 1-0 and BooBoo did great as ever, this time having some great runs out on the wing.

Bambeano was up next and he was a firecracker and has now taken Papa's nick name from him with his dynamite kicking and runs.  Bambeano has now been christened BOMBSHELL BOWDEN!!!!!  He had a great game 1st quarter on the bench but then 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter playing up front as striker and boy did he have is striking boots on.  A few just wide of the goal, a couple of saves from the keeper and another hitting the post but then just when we thought we were loosing (we were down 1-0) here comes Bombshell Bowden to save the day!!!!!! HE SCORES!!!!!!!!!

Now Bambeano has a unique way of celebrating.  Not only does he jump up and down but he has taken up the airplane celebration, arms out wide running over to the sidelines to give a high five to mummy before continuing to high five his whole team, coach and even the ref!!!!!!  god help us when he continues watching the premiership, it may turn into flips and shirt lifting knowing Bombshell!!!!

To celebrate the end of season we movedonto to Pizza hut for both teams before returning back to the park for Team Bowden against White Trash!!!! Yes the white team called themselves White trash!!!! We ended up drawing 1-1 which still keeps us unbeaten!!!!!

Now on to the tournaments.  BooBoo up 1st Tuesday night followed by Bambeano on Wednesday night, wish us luck!!!!!

Wrong Giant........

So Wednesday night it was just me and the kids and I am trying to get back in the pattern of vegetables for the kids, now each one has their favorite and I am trying to encourage each of them to try the other, Boo boo loves cream corn and green beans, while Bambeano loves corn, peas and broccoli.

I even sung the "Green Giant" song from the English commericals I remember growing up.  "Ho Ho Ho Green Giant" the kids joined in and we made a game out of it and even ate some vegetables YEAH!!!!

As we were finishing up dinner and finished talking about our days at school and work.  Bambeano jumped in and asked me "What was that giant's name again?"  "Jolly Green Giant" I replied........

and here is how the rest of the conversation went Bambeano style..........

Bambeano replied "No, not that one"
"What one?"
"Y'know the one that starts with G"
"You mean J, Jolly Green Giant"
"No the one that got beat up really bad" (Bambeano actioning with fist cuffs)

Now I was really scratching my head.  I thought it is not Jack and the beanstalk, not Jolly green giant, so what in the world can it be.

"Mummy what is the G giant"

Then it clicked he was talking about Goliath!!!!!!! OMG

"Do you mean Goliath"
"Yep that is the one David sure did beat him up big time"

Oh I love my Bambeano he makes me smile every time without even knowing it, oh so innocent

Happy Halloween Bowden Style........

Kids were very excited for Halloween this year.  BooBoo was to be a vampire and Bambeano a dinosaur.  Papa took them on their trick or treating while I hung out in the "hood" otherwise known as the Ironwood Cul de Sac.

Of course the kids came home with abundance of candy........ great start to my diet NOT.

to all those single parents out there......

Yet another busy week for the Bowden household.  Papa has been pretty much living at work this week.  Sunday he was in at work all day and it has continued yesterday and today before the sun came up and late.  So begins my week of single parenthood, dinner, lunches, homework and dinner.......

Obviously the kids are missing him very much and I have had to rely on some great neighbors to help with coordination of dropping off the kids, thanks Lauren and Sam P.

So tonight he surprised them tonight by calling them before bedtime.  Bambeano has been very emotional missing Papa these past few days and was very excited to speak to Papa.  He asked him how many servants did he have?  I had a little chuckle to myself, I think he meant servers, but no he was adamant that Papa must have servants.

Who does he think Papa is, God.....I hope not as I do not want Papa to get any ideas.

Proud moment........and sad moment......

So today was our 1st parent/teacher conference for Bambeano, partly sad as it makes it apparent he is growing up too fast.

Papa and 1 met with his teachers and were so proud to learn that Bambeano is excelling at school.  No problem following direction when it comes to his studying, can independently work on his own, including knowing the directions after they are given to the class.  His teacher stated it is very clear he loves coming to school.

I'm so proud of him.  He really did well and we rewarding him with 5 marbles to his every growing marble jar.

WAY TO BAMBEANO!!!!!! Mummy and Papa love you SO MUCH.

Bombshell Bowden.........

My favorite day of the week has arrived, Soccer Saturday.  This has become a ritual in our family to spend quality time on Saturdays enjoying soccer.

Papa and Bambeano left early for Papa's pee wee soccer practice while i enjoyed a quiet house and tried to still catch up on the laundry (the dryer broke last week end).

Bowden household was responsible for half time oranges, snacks and drinks.  I make it a point to sign up for both Bambeano and Boo Boo's games the same week end that way I don't forget and also make sure I get them over and done with the same time, no cause for errors in thinking which week is which kid.

Bambeano was up first enjoying his 1st game as captain and boy did he rise to the occasion.  A thrown in was given and Bamabeano chest the ball down simultaneously turned to face the goal and on the volley rocketed the ball into the goal.  OMG not only had Bambeano scored but it was an unbelievable goal turning and connecting on a volley is a tough feat for a 5 year old but somehow he managed it.

Now either the goal was the result of the 5 marbles Mummy & Papa had promised Bambeano or maybe it was the rubbing on the boots/cleats (UK and US version) that took place before the game.  Don't ask but for some reason Bambeano had got it into his head that if Mummy rubbed the gold on his white boots he would have lightning speed :)  Well not settling for just one goal Bambeano decided to add to the tally and rack up yet another goal.  My goodness this kid was on fire!!!!!!!!

One of his team mates finished the tally and we won 3-0.

up next Boo Boo.  She had a tough game and did great holding to a 0-0 game. 

Just to finish the Soccer Saturday on a positive note Papa made sure his Team Bowden continued their unbeaten run and won 2-0.

What a great day.  I just LOVE soccer Saturdays!!!!!

Captain Bambeano.....

No not the pirate type but the soccer type....

Bambeano played his heart tonight at practice very eager to get the captain badge.  He and his team had to fire shots at the goal with 2 cow bells at the sides for target practice.  This helps the kids aim for the side corners rather than the middle of the net where the goalie will probably be standing.

Well that cow bell was going crazy Bambeano hit it several times as did some of his team mates.

Reward came in the form of the captain badge, now I have to get it sewn on before the game at noon on Saturday.  Trust me I am not the domesticated type so this should be interesting.

Worth the wait........

Sorry for the delay in posting it has been yet another crazy time in the Bowden household.  We had some special visitors this week end, Grandma and Grandad (Papa's parents) joined us from Florida for the week end.  It was great fun and the kids had a the greatest time.

Now drum roll......... this was definatley worth the wait.  I took the day off work today to join Bambeano and his class for a field trip to Patterson Farms.  We had an absolute blast and the weather was fantastic.  We saw a puppet show, stuffed a scarecrow, took a hay ride and picked pumpkins.

Report Card

We have had a busy week at the Bowdens so much to report that I don't know where to start.

We had a case of pink eye with Bambeano last week (conjunctivitis to my English friends) and then of course we had Soccer Saturday.  Both kids lost 2-0 but they played their hearts out.  Bambeano was up against an unbeaten team and although e held them to 0-0 right through to the 4th quarter we couldn't hold on much longer.

Boo Boo played against a team that was very aggressive.  I was hurt and upset to hear that one of the players was bad mouthing Boo Boo.  Once I told her to tell her coach her coach spoke to the other coach.  The dad of the child heard and soon after the child was spoken to by his dad to stop the bad mouthing.

Today Boo Boo brought home a market period 1 report.  She has settled in well to 3rd grade with A's and B's.  Her teacher says she is very helpful and is a kind student.   She is always eager to get her homework done and she is very academic.    I am very proud of her achievements.

Here's to the rest of a busy week, new furniture arriving, carpets being shampooed, Disney on ice and then our special visitors are arriving unbeknown to Boo Boo and Bambeano

Finally date night

Super Saturday started off in usual fashion with soccer only this week we had soccer pictures thrown in too.  First up Papa at 8.30 am for his pee wee soccer pictures then practice.  Bambeano went with Papa while Boo Boo stayed with me and I got some things done around the house.

10.30am Boo Boo and I made our way down to the soccer fields for what would be the 5 hours, yep 5 hours!!!!!  Boo Boo up 1st with her pictures then her game, she won in amazing fashion with a 3-1 win.  No goals for her but she played her heart out in what would be hot 95 degrees. 

We had an hour break before Bambeano's pictures and game so Papa did a quick trip to Sonic for lunch.  Bambeano had a great game and the score was 0-0.

Back home to get Bambeano down for a nap before our big night out.  The kids were being dropped off to Bounce U for the parents night out.  We were taking advantage of dropping the kids off and enjoying a date night, more on that later, so Bambeano safely tucked up for a nap and Papa and I finally got to chill all that sun from the soccer fields sure did zap us of our energy.

No sooner than an hour passed and Papa got ready for his soccer game while we stayed at home and got showered and ready to go out.  Papa won 4-1 and he was the goalie, wish I had seen his saves sounded like he was a superstar in goal, no surprise there!!!!

Kids dropped off at Bounce U, they were so excited, Papa and I strolled around the mall to kill some time before our dinner reservations at PF Changs.

What a great end to a fun filled day, PF Changs was yummy and just being with Papa was great I had a great date night.  After picking the kids up it was apparent they had a great time at 10pm they still wanted to stay!!!!

How does god make babies

So today my daily morning school run was quite interesting I had to take a tip my neighbor gave me, remembering the things kids say keep it in your phone, today that tip came in handy, thanks Claire.

Super Saturday

After last week The Bowdens were very eager to wipe last week's soccer disappointment. The day started off early with Papa's pee wee soccer, yes I know we have no kids that could possibly be eligible for pee wee and you are right but Papa LOVES coaching this age group and continues to coach. He really does bloom in coaching and I am very proud of him.

This Saturday was no different. Not only did I have pee wee parents comment on his natural traits of coaching these 3-4 year olds but during Boo Boo's game parents from the other team were describing Papa's coaching skills, positive of course, what they didn't know was I was the wife.

Boo Boo was up 1st, after last week I was excited and nervous for her. I was excited that she bounced back from last week's disappointment but also nervous that her confidence could be knocked again. No fear Boo Boo came out fighting even going into gaol again for the 4th quarter when we were winning 2-1. It stayed 2-1 she won!!!!! Way to go Cyclones!!!!!!

Onto Bambeano's game for some reason Bambeano did not want to go in goal, Oh my please don't tell me her was affected by last week too!!!!! After the coach asked the rest of the team who wanted to go in goal, Bambeano came through and went in goal. We won 3-0 and while Bambeano did score it didn't count :( The other team had a goal kick and the ball should cross the line of the box before it can be touched, Bambeano took a step forward and "BAM" he rocketed into the net), Poor Bambeano he really didn't understand. Way to go Lightening

Well it didn't end there, Papa had the 1st game for the adult fall season, up against white, who in draft appeared to have alot of young feet on the team, and the talk was this was the team to beat, well Papa beat them, and in amazing fashion, they won 7-2, yep 7-2 and 1 of the goals was an own goal.

GREAT RESULT FOR SATURDAY AND THE BOWDEN SOCCER TEAMS!!!

Brick House.......

So today was Bambeano's 5 year old check up. Papa had the luxury of taking him today and I wish I had been a fly on the wall as the updates I received Papa had my rolling on the floor.....

Firstly Papa as usual was ill prepared and had no insurance card with him, this resulted in a frantic IM (instant message) to me for all the important insurance details, last time I checked Papa was going to the Dr so I could get some work done.

Anyway I was happy to oblige with the details and on to the visit. First up the weighing. 51lb a whopping 90% of his percentile, nothing to worry about except the following 2 boys (about 8 in age) were weighed and weighed in at 50lb. Bambeano's height is at 60-70% of his percentile.

The Dr has no concern of Bambeano being "obese" as he put it. He described Bambeano as "no issues with weight he is just solid built " In Papa's world he is built like a BRICK!!!!

Dr Swetenburg does not anticipate future issues or visits from Bambeano but considers lots of visits to the orthopedic as Bambeano is the type of child to fall down and break something, get back up and break the same thing over and over, GREAT I think should I take out additional health insurance now.

So Bambeano has this knack of potty breaks at the most unusual time and decides to broadcast the worst things, now pee pee he is very discreet saying he needs the bathroom, but #2 is another story this he decides he need to broadcast as needing to go poops. The visit at the Drs was no different. Papa let him off for his business only to discover that Bambeano was not happy with the lingering after smell and proceeded to empty half the can of air freshener that was in the stall. Papa asked him why he sprayed so much air freshener and Bambeano replied "It stinks it, smells like poison ivy"

All in all a very health check up, no shots and just a nasal flu shot, now just to get the rest of the family with flu shots :)

BooBoo does it again

Booboo excels yet again at school. Another week of 100% on homework and spelling. At the moment she is learning about the human body and the skeleton. She has a skeleton project to complete with Papa and yesterday she came home and told me that humans have tail bones like animals and 206 bones in our body........WOW I even learnt something. REALLY 206 bones in our body?

BooBoo is really excelling in academics she makes me proud!!!!!!!

My heart breaks......

Weekly Bowden Saturday soccer only this time it was a little different......

BooBoo had played her heart out all game and 4th quarter she was in goal, a normal position that she excels in and today was no different. Here she was again at her finest, Rocket powered shot right on target and my baby SAVED it!!!!!!!!

Her excitement and joy just made me so proud but WAIT what happened next left me gobsmacked.

In BooBoo's excitement she jumped up and landed her back foot behind the goal, the ball was clearly in front of the goal still SAVED, what happened next felt like slow motion, the kids still excited that BooBoo saved the goal looked in disbelief as the 2 refs looked at each other then simultaneously pointed to the center spot a goal was given!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

Now to be fair I was not near the goal so didn't actually see what transpired until later but it was quite clear Papa was enraged, I think for a moment it didn't matter if it was BooBoo in goal or another kid from the team all that mattered is Papa had to fight for what he believed in and he knew it was NOT a goal.

Papa and the ref got into it with Papa shouting at the ref and the ref shouting back, the ref even threatened with a red card to Papa. BooBoo was heartbroken, her earlier excitement and joy was wiped away in a millisecond by the ref, BOO YOU REF!!!!!!

Another week end bites the dust.....

Wow cannot believe how quick this long week end past by......

No soccer games for BooBoo or Bambeano but they still had practice and today they ended up playing a pick up game with some other kids from the Harrisburg Youth teams.

This week end Papa was a busy bee getting a lot of projects done around the house, namely pressure washing the house, of course that started a flurry of conversations in the cul de sac with the prospect of the Bowdens putting their house on the market......for the record we are not putting our house on the market.......just yet!!!! It will be a sad day leaving our cul de sac family but we wont be moving out of Harrisburg.

The other big thing we did this week end was purchase our new sofa and love seat, leather recliners so I am sure Papa will fall asleep more in front of the tv. the new furniture will arrive in 6-8 weeks.

What a week.....

Mummy tore her MCL (inside knee ligament) at soccer last Sunday. A trip to the Orthopedic Drs on Monday and now in a brace and crutches for the next 5 weeks, GREAT NOT.
